The Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2017, through proposals for an artwork or a completed artwork, will inspire creativity of sculpture in the urban environment and how it can enrich and inform public life.

Artist fees
An artist fee of $4,000 (incl.GST) will be provided to each of the six (6) finalists in the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2017 to assist with the costs of preparing entries for the public exhibition at Federation Square. The artist fees are generously supported by C H (Roger) Brookes.
Entrants in the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2017 may submit either a completed artwork or a proposal for an artwork.
The Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2017 is supported by The Vera Moore Foundation, The Tallis Foundation and the Melbourne Prize Trust.
Rural & Regional Development Award 2017
$40,000
Winner to be announced 15 November on this website.
The Rural & Regional Development Award 2017 will provide a sculptor in rural and regional Victoria with the opportunity to develop their practice.
Supported by The Geoff and Helen Handbury Foundation to provide opportunities to sculptors in rural and regional Victoria.
Professional Development Award 2017
$10,000 + Qantas $2,500 voucher and a professional practice opportunity at the Norma Redpath Studio, Melbourne
Winner to be announced 15 November on this website.
The Professional Development Award 2017 will provide a Victorian sculpture with the opportunity to travel, plus attend a residency at the Norma Redpath Studio in Melbourne and a cash sum, to develop their practice.
Supported by the Melbourne Prize Trust, Qantas, the Victorian College of the Arts and The University of Melbourne.
(New) Public Artwork Design Concept Award 2017
Crafting a City of Literature
$10,000
The Melbourne UNESCO City of Literature Office and the Melbourne Prize Trust are working together with this new Award to acknowledge Melbourne's designation as a UNESCO City of Literature.
This Award seeks design concepts only for a public artwork from Victorian sculptors that would celebrate Melbourne’s designation as a UNESCO City of Literature. The entered design concept must be conceived for public open space in the urban environment.

Civic Choice Award 2017
$4,000
Winner to be announced 1 December on this website.
Awarded to a finalist in the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture 2017 and the Public Artwork Design Concept Award 2017 – Crafting a City of Literature and the recipient of the Rural & Regional Development Award 2017 with the highest number of public votes cast online and during the Federation Square exhibition (13 to 27 November).
Supported by the Melbourne Prize Trust.
Voters will go into the running to win a luxury overnight stay at Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, Melbourne’s Hotel for the Arts.
